RECOOP Staff

Nicola Knoop

  • Position: Project Worker - Leyhill

Nicola joined RECOOP in 2011 as a volunteer.  A year later she applied for, and accepted, a paid role in the newly founded Lobster Pot, a community centre for the over 50s at HMP Leyhill.  Since then, her work has expanded and together with her colleague she is involved in the daily running of the Centre which includes sessions such as basic cooking; nature walks; visiting speakers; fine cell work; quizzes; bingo; gardening, mental and physical health etc.  There is a particular focus on resettlement and support for men progressing towards release.  Much of the work involves listening and having conversations on a daily basis, identifying needs and, where appropriate, referring on to other agencies.

Nicola has a background in education and writing for therapeutic purposes.
